Perfecting Imperfection: One Day At A Time
  • About Me

Music is my life. Everything can be expressed, handled or just felt more deeply with the right chord or phrase. I have been blessed with some amazing friends and am still at that point where my life is an open book. If you’d like, stick around for a bit and help me write a few chapters…

What Was He Thinking?!?!

April 16th, 2009

Why in the world would Lou Admundson think he could prank Shaq Diesel and get away with it?!?!  The man is a beast.  He’s one of the greatest prank artists in professional sports, and he will get revenge.

Enough To Get By Until Thursday

March 24th, 2009

I need basketball. I need basketball now. I can’t wait til Thursday. I might need a March Madness 12-step program. Do you think Chase Budinger would be my interventionalist? I hope so.

Cleveland State 57 – Arizona 71

March 22nd, 2009

Sweet 16, here we come!  After everything our Cats have been through the past few years, It’s great to see success coming from a team half of the nation didn’t believed deserved their #12 seed.  Now I have to wait too many days until the Tourney starts up again, but when it dies….Bring on the Cardinals!

Tell me again how we didn’t deserve to make the Big Dance… exactly.

March Madness is finally here. Our brackets have been decided and submitted to Zac’s “weirdsowithbeardos” ESPN group. Just in case, you wanna follow along… here’s the official Men’s 2009 Division 1 Tournament Bracket. Go Wildcats!  (PS – No matter what any one tells you.  I did NOT take today and tomorrow off to watch the games.  I swear.)

Big Man’s Got Some Moves

February 15th, 2009

Shaq is known for his antics especially during All-Star weekend, and with this year’s event being held in Phoenix, you knew he’d pull out all the stops… even if those stops included the Jabbawockees.

Really?!?!

February 8th, 2009

While not as eloquent as EricBlues, Seth Meyers says what so many of us have been thinking regarding Mr. Phelps. Sure, he made a huge mistake… but whoever took the photo is a huge dbag. You can quote me on that.

Countdown To Destiny…. 6 Hours

February 1st, 2009

It’s a gorgeous Sunday morning, and I’m enjoying some solitude and breakfast before church.  The house is clean.  All the food has been prepared for today’s festivities, and I’m more than a bit nervous/excited for the biggest game of the season/Arizona Cardinals history.   Some may consider this image that was sent to me by one of my best friend’s of a church in the valley blasphemous, but my guess is you’re just Steelers fans and are fearful that the Cards are God’s team (2nd to the Pack;) ).  But in just a few hours, we’ll see who takes home the prettiest girl from the big dance.  My money (literally and figuratively) is on Kurt and the boys.  Then again, I always cheer for the underdog team with heart and a personality.  Hopefully, 12 hours from now we’ll all be exhausted from celebrating Fitzy’s acrobatic catch… The Edge’s touchdown run… that Big Red Defense… Boldin’s 40-yd slant pass pickup… Kurt for just being Kurt… and the Lombardi trophy on its way to the desert.  Hopefully.

Super Bowl Paraphernalia

January 31st, 2009

Found ‘red dogs’ while out shopping for Super Bowl food tonight.  It looks like this state is ready to embrace a winning team.  24 hours from now we’ll see how ready that team is to embrace us.

A Historic Day Is Upon Us

January 18th, 2009

Heck no, I’m not talking about the impending inauguration.  That’s nothing compared to the fact the ARIZONA CARDINALS are going to the SUPER BOWL!!! Yeah, nothing else tops that. As the big day in Tampa draws near you’ll be hearing more and more about Fitzy, Warner, Boldin, Edge, Hightower, and that defense, but for now I’m just going to play with my McFarlane’s and plan my party. Just gotta remember to breathe…

I’m Not Jealous… I Swear

January 6th, 2009

Where were Zac and my dad last night?  Not in Willcox.  Not in San Simon.  Nope, they were in the University of Phoenix Stadium watching the Fiesta Bowl.  I’m trying hard to not be jealous that they got to witness live the phenomenal matchup of the Buckeyes vs the Hookem Horns… but I’m failing miserably.  It doesn’t help that Zac sent me a few snapshots from his phone.  You can tell how awesome their seats were by the quality of the phone pics he took with his 1.3 megapixel camera.  Hopefully, after seeing this pictures you’ll be just as jealous as I was… and then I won’t feel so guilty.  Kinda like when you try to get rid of that song stuck in your head by singing it to someone else. Kinda.

The game.

The band.

1 Down… 3 To Go.

January 3rd, 2009

There truly is nothing like filling your living room with good friends who are just as excited as you to watch the big game.  With ‘Zactoria’ in town for the weekend, the gang showed up for a home-cooked meal, time to fellowship (it’s so obvious we’re Baptists), and the chance to watch the Cardinals pull of the unlikely Playoff win.  Except with Fitzy, Warner, the Edge, and a surprisingly strong defense, they did more than put up a good fight… they beat the Atlanta Falcons and earned themselves a chance at Carolina.  For those of you who missed the game, you need to check out Fitzy’s endzone catch… it’s a thing of pure beauty.  Go Cards, Go!

Whatcha Readin?

September 14th, 2008

Today marks Day 1 of my hiatus into the world ‘off the grid’.  I honestly haven’t gone this long without a pure form of the intarweb for the past six years or so.  Sure,  I have my cell phone, and most of the time I can survive with that (the admin page of this blog, gmail, espn, the basics).  But I’m going to have quite the catching up to do on some of my favorite feel-good websites.  So, read them for me, would ya?

Quirky, comfy and original.  I lived on this website as I was decorating my new apartment. From paper products to home decor, I have a happy moment here each morning before work.

With a tagline like that who needs to say more.  Music lovers bookmark this one!

Think celebgossipblogging but about sports.  No, this isn’t about where Kobe had dinner last night, but if you’ve ever owned a fantasy team, this should be bookmarked.

24-19: One Down, Fifteen To Go.

September 8th, 2008

So starts the transition.  Week 1:  Monday Night Football.  Minnesota Vikings vs. Green Bay Packers.  The year when so many of the Pack Nation try and forget about the drama of the off-season.  Naturally, you have to cheer for #12 as Mr Rodger’s Neighbor is now in full effect.  But, what about that #4 in Jets Green and Silver?  What do you do about him?  I guess that’s for each fan to decide on their own, but for now I say there’s plenty of room in this girl’s heart for more than one QB on the Frozen Tundra of Lambeau field.  (Beating the Vikings does make the love flow that much easier. Just FYI.)

Kobe, Tell Me How Your Gold Tastes

August 23rd, 2008

I should be in bed.  I should be sleeping.  I should have waited til morning or sometime next week to watch the U.S. Men’s Basketball team in the Olympic Gold final game versus Spain, but living in a world full of shoulds is boring.  I’m sure as I stumbled in the house tonight at 11:35pm after a long day of move-in support it wasn’t a wise decision to call my parents and hear my dad already lit up about the officiating of the game.  I know I shouldn’t have settled into that big comfy chair, thrown my weary feet on that ottoman, and turned on the tv.  But the ‘Redeem Team’ was down by five in the first, and the Gasol boys were making a louder statement than most of the world thought possible.  Somewhere in the back of my mind I know if they would have been winning, I might have crawled into bed and waited til morning to find out their margin of victory, yet this was going to be a game to be remembered.  I couldn’t miss it.  The boys needed my support.  So I stayed up.  Tried not to yell and wake the neighbors.  Watched LBJ and Kobe pickup those first few ticky-tack fouls.  Got chills as DWade stepped up and took his place as ‘the man’.  Watched us build a lead, and watched Spain inch back.  Sat on the edge of my seat until deep in the morning, and finally watched the boys celebrate with their much coveted gold.  As they stepped arm in arm back onto the platform we had owned for so many years, I knew that the sleep I’d get tonight (even if it was two hours less than I had originally planned) would be that much sweeter because for one night… everything was right in the world, again.  (I dare you to watch the medal ceremony and not get chills.  Maybe, just maybe, I don’t hate Kobe so much.)
