This might be TMI, but upon the realization that Cory and I were sitting together tonight with our macs and color-coordinated passport hard drives, Lauren insisted that we take a picture and ‘put that on the internet’. Notice the pink and blue. Mine’s cute and purse-ready. His is the powerhouse for ~~computing~~ gaming. I’m on facebook… he’s rockin’ WoW. What is it they say about opposites…. oh, well. Maybe I’ll think of it later.

These Belong In A Frame

I’d forgotten that these pictures were taken the last time I had the girls until I discovered them when adding new batteries into my camera earlier this week. Sometime on Saturday morning while I was making breakfast the two make-believe princesses in the new dress-up gowns I had bought them curled up on Cory’s lap to ~~be sweet~~ harass him. Miss M was not pleased with her 2nd rate seat with Cory, so I headed into the living room to diffuse the squabble. (Siblings can be so competitive.) As soon as I saw the cuteness and grabbed my camera, J pleaded for me to ‘put her on the internet’ while Cory wanted to make sure both of his hands were clearly in the photo and not on the girls. (Apparently, someone is anti-chimo. Probably, wise.)

I plan on using the other shot Cory took of the girls as blackmail the next time they are screaming and fighting with each other. “Remember when you guys loved each other and were sweet, good girls??? Well, do me a favor and ask those girls to come back.” Wow, I really do sound more and more like my mom every day.

Nothing could be better than a three-day weekend after the chaos of the beginning of the spring semester. While at my favorite munchkins house babysitting on Wednesday night, I was reminded that it was time for our monthly pajama party. So tonight’s plan will be mac-n-cheese, pajamas, kiddie movies, and some fun with photo booth. Yeah, I’m that lucky.

I’ve always considered myself to be a math person, so I should have realized this bloggin’ everyday thing would eventually lead to a large number of posts. However, when I noticed a few days ago that I was approaching the big 5-0-0, it was more of a suprise than it should have been. Let’s not tell Mr. Laduke (my HS math teacher) that I’ve slipped so far down the arithmatic chain, k? With my ankle propped up and icing (see, Mom, I am taking care of myself) I spent a few hours this evening reading back again through the last year and a half of my life, and as much as I’m still Laurel, I find hope in the growth and change that has happened. So to commemorate this slightly momentous posting occasion, I thought I’d share back with you five of my favorite/truest/funniest posts of our time together.

4) My mom’s love of telling time, my dad’s ADD confessions, and Zac’s pranks… humor… and awesomeness.

3) The time I was called a lesbian, saw Ryan Adams and The Cardinals, John Mayer, Ingrid, the Crows and Matty Nay to name a few, fed the masses, begged my bffs take over, and celebrated my 27th in style.

Change is still headed my way. I’m still gonna have moments of complete and utter collapse, and what needs to happen in the next few months will still overwhelm me. But, I’ve stopped playing the reality peek-a-boo game because I know that time marches on whether or not you want it to. For now, let’s go ahead and schedule a time this fall where we can all sit back and laugh at my drama queen distress today. We’ll watch the Arizona sun set as we sip iced tea, and I won’t be offended when you remind how we all knew deep down… it would be okay.

This should be arriving on my doorstep very soon in the form of a cotton candy pink hoodie for those dreary winter days, and all the proceeds go to support Breast Cancer research. How awesome is that!!! A few of my friends bought one, too. So as soon as we all have them on at the same time, I’ll snap a picture for ya!

Hometown Fun

I never miss my hometown more than I do in the fall. At least once a year, Mom and I head out to Apple Annie’s for peaches, handmade goodies and the best apples in Arizona. A few more miles down Ft Grant Road and you can go on a hayride, pick the perfect carving pumpkin, and purchase tons of other homegrown vegetables. This year for the first time Apple Annie’s has created a massive corn-maze, the largest in our fine state. When Zac told me about it, I was amazed at the detail an eighteen-acre field. So if you happen to be heading east past Tucson and need a fun family activity, take a detour past my hometown and see what Apple Annie’s has to offer.

This gem hangs in my grandparents’ house. I remember the chaos of this Christmas season day when 21 members of my mom’s family dressed up to get our picture taken together. Grandma had bought every blue sweater for the boys and made the jumpers for the girls. I love how young we looked, and how for one of the last times, we were all in the same place. Plus, I had some pretty awesome 90′s bangs!!!

I’m a camera fanatic. I don’t go anywhere without at least one camera and have annoyed more than a few family members with my requests for picture time. But, with family is pretty as mine, could ya blame me?
