Music is my life. Everything can be expressed, handled or just felt more deeply with the right chord or phrase. I have been blessed with some amazing friends and am still at that point where my life is an open book. If you’d like, stick around for a bit and help me write a few chapters…
It’s been way too long since I’ve taken the time to really share new music with you. Last week during my daily wanderings of my favorite blogs (thank you, google reader) I found this compilation of remixes and mashups of some of the biggest songs of 2008 and Grammy nominees and knew you had to hear it. Since then I can’t get enough of this disc and have burned a copy for all I thought might enjoy it. Lil Wayne… Jay-Z…. John Mayer… Adele… Coldplay… these are all some of my top songs and albums of 2008. (A list I’m finally finishing up to present to you next Thursday.) If you ever heard Radiohead and thought Lupe Fiasco could really give this song an edge, than this disc is for you. If you have no idea who Lupe Fiasco is, don’t be afraid to take a listen… you might just enjoy him and so many of the others on this playlist. One warning though… put some headphones on if you’re in the office. This isn’t your typical easy listening station tunage. (Make sure you listen to Mayer and Jay-Z – #12. So hot!)

It took four separate shoveling events to finally dig my car out so that I could return to work today. Next time it snows, though, I will not be out shoveling at 10pm in the snow and wind. Not because of the extreme weather conditions and the fear I might lose my nose to frostbite or my eyelashes might freeze together, but because I don’t think I could handle another ‘lecture’ from my neighbor informing me that it’s unbecoming for women to do work outside. That’s why she has a husband, of course. Or maybe I should just get two ‘tarded’ boyfriends. Oh the possibilities…. My guess is I’m just going to continue to be unbecoming and shovel myself out. Shocker.
It doesn’t happen very often that the university shuts down due to poor weather conditions, but at 5:34 this morning I received the most precious of university alert text messages…. “School was canceled.” To add joy to my already great news, I was too snowed in to have to report to the office. So instead I have a list of 10 things that have to get done today in my blessed snow day. 9 of those things involve sleep. Lucky me.
John Mayer, BB King, Buddy Guy, and Keith Urban in a tribute to Buddy Guy
And so many other amazing performances that I can’t find the videos for. Paul McCartney and Dave Grohl…. Lil Wayne and Robin Thicke, Estelle and Kanye, TayTay, The remaining member of the Four Tops with Jamie Foxx, Smokey Robinson, and Ne-Yo… amazing.
While not as eloquent as EricBlues, Seth Meyers says what so many of us have been thinking regarding Mr. Phelps. Sure, he made a huge mistake… but whoever took the photo is a huge dbag. You can quote me on that.
I really can’t think of a better way to end a long and emotionally taxing week than to pull up to your house and see a bright green and purple box on your front steps that you know is full of flowers. Without even pulling the door shut behind me, I rushed into the house and ripped the box open to find two dozen blood red, pink, and cream roses and the most amazing card from Zac. Lucky me, I have the world’s best friend/brother who cares enough to do the things in life that remind me how blessed I really am. Every day I think these roses have finally reached their peak of beauty, but today I’m sure they just can’t possible be any more wonderful… kinda like Zac.
No, this is not chimo week here on the lj blog. I just happened to have stumbled across a few kiddie videos that have made my day. Today’s installment is a 7 year-old who is still suffering from the ‘glow’ of anesthesia at the dentist. I wish I could get some of what he’s having. Funny thing is how many of these questions I have pleaded to know the answer to while sober. Every single one.
It’s a gorgeous Sunday morning, and I’m enjoying some solitude and breakfast before church. The house is clean. All the food has been prepared for today’s festivities, and I’m more than a bit nervous/excited for the biggest game of the season/Arizona Cardinals history. Some may consider this image that was sent to me by one of my best friend’s of a church in the valley blasphemous, but my guess is you’re just Steelers fans and are fearful that the Cards are God’s team (2nd to the Pack;) ). But in just a few hours, we’ll see who takes home the prettiest girl from the big dance. My money (literally and figuratively) is on Kurt and the boys. Then again, I always cheer for the underdog team with heart and a personality. Hopefully, 12 hours from now we’ll all be exhausted from celebrating Fitzy’s acrobatic catch… The Edge’s touchdown run… that Big Red Defense… Boldin’s 40-yd slant pass pickup… Kurt for just being Kurt… and the Lombardi trophy on its way to the desert. Hopefully.
